Why I Like this Book:

In rhyming couplets, a succession of flowers narrate the passing of seasons. From the first snowdrops and crocuses of early spring to the chrysanthemums of autumn, readers meet the flowers of New England as they bloom and perfume through spring, summer, and fall. Paired with Garland’s country quilt, digital collage illustrations, these couplets are a wonderful introduction to flowering plants and the seasons when they bloom. Additional facts appear in the back matter.

Whether your children already are avid gardeners or whether you want to encourage your kids to join you in the garden, A Season of Flowers is sure to encourage green thumbs.

A Note about Craft:

Although the facts and flowers on each spread are unique, the rhyming couplet structure and first-person perspective unite the spreads as we embark on this survey of flowering plants through the seasons.
